Digital Innovation Hub

Brigham Clinician Awarded $50,000 as Part of Healthy Aging Challenge at Massachusetts Digital Health Competition Finale

Challenge 1: Innovations to Support Healthy Aging is an initiative from Mass Digital Health designed to find digital health solutions that can help older adults live as well and independently as possible by supporting their physical, mental, and social health. Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI) launched this challenge to discover and spotlight digital health solutions that improve the lives of older adults and help them remain active, productive, independent, and socially connected.

As part of this first challenge, seven companies pitched their innovative digital products to promote healthy aging to judges at the finale of the Healthy Aging Sandbox Challenge. Four companies were chosen and split $200,000 to test and validate products with the Mass Digital Health sandbox sites, including Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Alexander J. Blood, MD, a cardiologist and critical care physician, based at the Brigham will be working with an early-stage virtual physical therapy company that utilizes computer vision to help patients perform exercises at the bedside. Enabled Health is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for hospitals that automates patient mobility at scale via virtual exercise training powered by AI.
