Innovative Technologies Assessment in Digital Health
When: May 9th, 2017
Where: BTM 3rd Floor Conference Room
"We use wearable and ingestible biosensors to treat, and even prevent substance abuse. We’ve learned to identify the correct dosing of opioids following fracture, and measure when people develop tolerance to opioid analgesics. We also are using and developing clever applications of machine learning, to determine which condition to treat first, in patients with co-occurring disorders (eg, opioid dependence and PTSD)."
*Please note: The BWH Digital Research Forum is a private peer meeting for BWH researchers, clinicians and innovators working on digital projects and data science to connect and share ideas. The Digital Research Forum is held the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 8-9 am in the 3rd floor conference center of the BTM at 60 Fenwood Rd.
Edward W. Boyer, M.D., Ph.D.
Edward W. Boyer M.D. Ph.D., although a chemist by training, is not a faculty member of the department of emergency medicine. Continuously funded by NIH since 2001 to study the intersection between technology and health, his research includes mobile biosensing, use of machine learning to identify behavior, and digital pills to detect medication adherence.
